What is the main objective in managing your wealth?
To allow part of my wealth to continue generating returns at an average level of risk, without having to actively manage it too much.
Why do you want to invest in private equity?
To invest part of our wealth at an average level of risk, with a strong return. This allows us to create financial independence, which is a wonderful feeling.
What do you expect from investing in private equity?
A return of 10–15% year on year, which is significantly higher than what the stock market and real estate can offer us.
Which alternatives for investing in private equity have you explored?
We consciously make use of several opportunities to achieve a higher return on our wealth. We keep part of it in savings and invest in the stock market. Especially given Gabriëlle’s background, having worked in private banking for many years, diversification is a logical choice. In addition, we own real estate both in the Netherlands and abroad, and we invest in a start-up. And, of course, part of our wealth is tied up in the company where Joop is CEO and shareholder-director.
Why did you specifically choose BB Capital for investing in private equity?
Joop: “As the shareholder-director of a company in which the majority of shares are held by a private equity firm, I believe in the concept of Private Equity. By selecting the right companies and giving them the right attention and focus, better businesses can be built. I find it interesting to be ‘on the other side of the table’ with BB Capital. That is also why I enjoy hearing more about the companies BB Capital invests in, as well as the approach and methods they apply.”
Gabriëlle: “In addition to my work as a lecturer and study adviser at a university of applied sciences, and my role as a council member, I am also actively involved in volunteer work. We have been supporting charities in various ways for years. In my view, the NextGen fund is a very valuable addition to the funds BB Capital offers, and a meaningful middle ground between investing and philanthropy.”
