Why do you want to invest in private equity?
As everyone knows, it is wise to diversify your wealth across different sources, preferably ones that have little correlation with each other. In this way, you can benefit from growth while limiting the risk if one of those sources performs less well. We see Private Equity as a very interesting source of returns, as successful new companies will always continue to be built. Companies that may not yet be listed on the stock exchange, or that may benefit from a different economic climate while the stock market is facing challenges. A fund that brings together the most interesting parties also helps reduce risk, while the potential remains significant. In that way, Private Equity is a very logical and attractive addition to our portfolio.
What appeals to you most about BB Capital’s private equity fund?
BB Capital’s presentation showed that they take economically challenging years into account. In the event of an economic downturn, the negative impact appears to be greater in the public markets than in the private markets. In fact, a difficult year for the economy can be, and often is, an excellent year to invest in private equity. These opportunities are very interesting for investors. We want to diversify our invested capital, and for the reasons mentioned above, investing in the private sector seems very attractive to us. In general, the entry threshold for Private Equity is quite high, which meant there appeared to be few options available to us. However, BB Capital’s Fund makes it possible to participate with smaller amounts, while still spreading the invested capital across a broader portfolio of companies. We would never be able to achieve this with our budget by investing directly in companies ourselves.
What is the main objective in managing your wealth?
We believe it is important that our wealth continues to grow over the long term. We do this by investing our wealth in a diversified way, across different risk profiles. For us, private equity represents a medium-risk, medium-return investment. In addition, we also invest in areas such as cryptocurrencies and equities, which we consider high-risk, high-return, as well as investment funds and real estate, which we see as lower-risk, lower-return.
